I AM DONE WITH UNI!

And it feels so good to be done! I've been in school for 14 weeks now, although 2 of them were breaks. For the most part, it was all pretty cruisey.. not too much homework. The last two weeks were totally different! I didn't have that much work to do, but it seemed like a lot after not having much all semester. But it is all done and I survived! And I'm fairly confident I passed all my classes too! Here's how my last week went -
Monday was the Queen's birthday, so no uni.
Tuesday was such a nervewracking day! I had an Environmental Science test in the morning, and it was hard! I studied quite a bit, but some of the stuff on the test I do not remember learning.. yikes. I think it went alright though. After my first exam, I had a couple hours to wait before my Spanish oral exam. They do oral exams all through school in NZ, so the other students weren't as nervous as I was. I've never had to do one and I had no idea what to expect! I studied for a few hours before and memorized what I wanted to say. The oral exam consisted of a monologue about a certain topic they gave us, then we had to describe a photo. So I could memorize the first half, but who knows what photo I would get! Overall I think I did pretty well. I was definitely freaking out though! The rest of my day was pretty relaxed after my two exams. I walked down to the Te Aro campus for my last photo lecture. The weather was awful! It was so cold, windy, rainy, and I think it might have hailed. My walk home was not enjoyable, but when I arrived I had a little package waiting for me! Owen sent me a lovely little letter and video montage of last summer, which made me miss home so much!
Wednesday was such a productive day for me. I finally made all my plans for my South Island trip, which is coming up in 5 days! I booked hostels, rented cars, looked up activities to do, etc. I'd been meaning to do it for like ever, but I was just so busy with uni work. I spent most of the day working on that, but had my Spanish written exam in the afternoon. Spanish turned out to be a lot more work than I thought.. I had an audiovisual test, an oral exam, and a written final exam! But since I've been studying Spanish for so long, it was a piece of cake. After the class, some of us stayed behind for our class party. As a class rep, I can throw an end-of-semester party. I tried so hard to get Spanish food, but my budget would only let me get pizza. It was so good though, and it was nice to just hang out after our big exam.
What a busy day Thursday was! My photo project was due at noon, and I still had a little bit of editing to do. I walked over to Te Aro in the morning, and finished it up just before noon! I then had to get to Kelburn quick, because I had another psych study to do. These studies are happening all the time, and most of them pay! I'm totally taking advantage of it. This study had a group of us sing a song together, and then play a money game. They were looking at whether doing a group activity makes us more generous, I think. It probably worked cause I got $21 out of the deal! Sweet! After the first study, I had another one which was really interesting as well. It was a linguistics study, and I had to guess what two words made up one word (infotech = information + technology) and then had to determine whether a word I was shown was English or not. After a couple hours of being tested on, I walked down to Fidel's cafe on Cuba Street (is that bad?) to meet up with Alice for the last time. Alice was paired up with me through the international buddy system, and we hung out a lot over the semester. She is the sweetest! She's on her way to Cambodia now for mid-year break. How fun! When I finally made it home after being out all day, I had another package waiting for me! Mom, you spoil me! I don't think I have ever been so happy to see ramen noodles. The stuff they have here is much worse (if that's possible).
Friday, my last day of uni, was kind of underwhelming. It felt just like any other day. I went to my Environmental lecture as normal. After that, I did another study (surprise surprise) which was really cool. I had to fill out some questionnaires about relationships, but afterwards, the examiner asked me if I noticed that the table and chair I was using were wobbly. I think they were secretly trying to see if physical instability makes people feel more unstable in relationships. Tricky! I walked down to Te Aro as normal afterwards, and had to present my photo project. I didn't really like the outcome of it, but I think the class seemed to like it. If you're curious, here's the link to my photo blog: http://www.mollymaine144.blogspot.com. I had one last assignment to do before I was completely done, so I headed back up to Kelburn to finish it and turn it in. So much walking that day! I finished early in the afternoon, and then I was completely done! No more classes, homework, walking up the big hill, or running between campuses for me!
I'm shipping off to the South Island pretty soon.. literally. I'll take the ferry over, rent a car, and then I'll be off! My general route is Picton, Nelson, Abel Tasman, Oparara Basin, Christchurch, the glaciers, Wanaka, Queenstown, Fiordland, Curio Bay, Invercargill, Dunedin, Auckland, and finally Wellington. Phew! I'm gonna be busy! And I won't be alone for all of it this time - I'll have a friend joining me for part of it and Mum for another part. I am soo excited for this big adventure! I'll basically be zigzagging my way down the South Island, then fly back up. I'm not sure if they even have internet in such remote places, but I'll try to keep up with my blogging!
